About Margie Woods Brown:

Margie Woods Brown was born in 1967 on the Big Island of Hawaii, into a large, dynamic and creative family. She was raised there on a cattle ranch until the family moved to Arizona in 1977. She holds her bachelor's degree in Communication from University of Colorado in Boulder , and in 2006, obtained her Masters in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University in Los Angeles, CA .

From a young age, Margie has been drawn to teaching and helping others reach their potential. As a teenager she worked as a pre-school teacher and camp counselor, and later as an adult, owned Flatirons Martial Arts in Boulder, CO where as a third degree black belt and certified  kyo sa , or instructor, she taught the traditional Korean martial art , Soo Bahk Do for many years to students of all ages and abilities. Margie has since worked as a Marriage and Family Therapist intern at The Women 's Clinic and Family Counseling Center, in Los Angeles , where she was supervised and mentored by Carla Becker, MFT, who continues to be a great source of inspiration.

Alongside these experiences, Margie has maintained her love of art, which started with doodling and designing quirky greeting cards. Her art eventually found form in visual journaling, bookmaking, painting and printmaking, and has evolved into a full time passion. She feels blessed to have studied with and been mentored by incredible artists along the way, especially Deb Jones, Holly Roberts and Laurie Doctor. Their existence as brave artists and teachers continues to inspire her to always strive to deepen her own creative process. 

Through her creative evolution, Margie has experienced first hand the enormous healing power of art. It seemed a natural next step to combine her experience teaching and in the psychology field, with her desire to share art as a therapeutic tool and healing medium. She strongly believes that the artistic process enhances and encourages psychological growth and healing on many levels. She brings this passion to her personal coaching and mentoring, as well as her workshops and groups.
